On the 110 year anniversary of the battle around which this story revolves, Toby returns to Northampton’s Royal & Derngate for a one off revival of his celebrated epic poem A Day To Remember.
The Battle of Aubers Ridge was one of the most disastrous British military engagements of the First World War. The Northamptonshire Regiment was heavily involved and badly hit. No single regiment suffered more losses on those two days in May 1915 when the British counted 11,000 casualties overall for no material strategic gain.
10 years on from its creation, this true tale is more relevant than ever. Toby’s poetry, enthralling and heartrending, offers the perfect Remembrance Sunday catalyst for deep and heartfelt reflecting on what it really means to be alive in times of War.
Featuring a rich soundscape, live music from The Quentin Quartet, and direction by award-winning theatre maker and Artistic Director Jesse Jones.
